The Solicitors Regulation Authority (SRA) is consulting on further changes to its Handbook and a revised enforcement strategy. This consultation includes the rules to implement the proposals to allow solicitors to provide non-reserved legal services outside regulated firms. The consultation also includes the transitional arrangements for the introduction of the new solicitors qualifying examination (SQE). The SRA’s stated aim is to simplify regulations so they are clearer and easier to understand and to remove unnecessary rules that drive up costs or restrict access to solicitors. The deadline for comments is 20 December 2017.
